What's on your mind lately?
"Culture eats strategy for breakfast". Lars K Jensen referenced the saying back in 2024 at The Audiencers event in London and I think of it often. It's not enough to have a vision and a plan; you need to bring people with you. Everyone must speak the same language and pull in the same direction to deliver the goods.
Are we taking AI seriously enough?
Soon people won't be able to escape AI; it will be integrated into everything they own and use. Our audiences' expectations of the digital world in general, and of the media, are going to shift radically. And their needs will change too. We can't just polish our current solutions. Journalism will need to solve new problems we haven't yet imagined.
What's a good hobby to pick up?
Pottery! Having harboured a secret desire to learn to throw, I eventually got behind a wheel last year. There's something special about learning a craft. It takes patience, but the end result is something tangible. I just signed up for my second term of classes. By the summer I'll have a full set of tableware.
